One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the farmer's markets. There is a dedicated outdoor space for a very large one on the weekends, and a smaller one on a residential street during the week. It's a foodie's delight for sure.
There's nothing like fresh, organic fruit and vegetables, and even grass-fed beef and pastured pork and poultry! It not only tastes better, but is better for you (and the planet) too.
But I won't get into that today. Not all of the produce at the markets is organic, anyway. But much of it is!
Unfortunately, we were so taken by the energy of the weekend market that we didn't get to take any photos of that one. It's a shame, because the setting was so much prettier, as it was alongside Cayuga Lake, but here are some from the smaller one:
Imagine eating freshly picked fruit and vegetables! It was amazing. You should have tasted the blueberries and raspberries! You can't get ones that taste that good at a supermarket. The fresh garlic was amazing too, as was everything we brought home with us.
Fresh, real, homemade food can make such a difference in our lives. From the simple act of cooking and eating together, to the cultural and environmental bridge the process creates, farm fresh, organic food has the power to transform lives.
What has really good food done for you lately? Hopefully, something wonderful.
And tomorrow - I'll share photos of something else that has the power to change your life. The sound and beauty of a simple waterfall. Close your eyes for a second and imagine...
And have a great Monday!
