I really miss writing about picture books! So, when I was asked to tell you about Laura Numeroff's story hour tour this week, I jumped at the chance.
I tend to write about lesser known picture books, but both of my children really enjoyed popular ones like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (If You Give...) and If You Give a Pig a Pancake (If You Give...) when they were toddlers and preschoolers. StrawberryGirl even created an If You Give a Pig a Pancake game when she was in Kindergarten! Players had to go around the board earning pancakes. Oh, what fond memories...
I'm happy to inform you that Laura Numeroff has just released a new book called The Jellybeans and the Big Book Bonanza, which I have not had a chance to take a look at yet. It sounds like it's right up my alley, though, because it's all about how much fun it is to read, and how there is a book out there for every type of reader. I love it already, and can't wait to get my hands on it!
Well, now you have a chance to not only hear this wonderful author read-aloud some of her hilarious books, but to receive a complimentary signed copy of her new book! It's just in time for jelly bean season.
This event was organized in partnership with Sleepys and the nonprofit literacy organization First Book in order to promote family bedtime reading. You can support the cause by making a pledge to read for 20 minutes every night with your child at SleepysBedtimeStories.com. You might even win a free lunch with the author in New York City!
Here are the dates, times, and locations for the tour:
I hope you can attend. I'm sure it'll be a memorable event. If not, though, you can find out more about this author and her books at her web site. Please also note that if you decide to purchase one of the author's books through any of my blog links, I will receive a tiny commission from Amazon. I appreciate your support.
My children are beyond the cuddly picture book stage, but I really miss those nightly pajama read-alouds! The time goes fast, so please enjoy this precious time while you still can.
If you have any fond memories of reading aloud any of the If You Give series picture books with your child, please feel free to share them with us!I'd also like to wish everyone a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter! In honor of these holidays, I will most likely not be writing another post this week.
