The internet is going to save us.
Superman is too, you know?
Many people truly believe that the internet is going to save the world.
Change it, it certainly has.
Is it all a bed of roses and a sky of flying capes, though?
Here's some food for thought:
- Why does a popular children's author still write books-in-print? Find out in The Washington Post's The future of children's book publishing.
- Are we becoming a "culture of reaction without action," as stated by Jaron Lanier (author of You are not a Gadget: A Manifesto)? You might want to put your critical thinking cap on for The New York Times' Texts Without Context: The Internet Mashes Up Everything We Know About Culture. It's a rather lengthy article, but one that's certainly worth reading.
I don't have all of the answers. But I do know that too much of anything can never be a good thing.
Even if it's Superman. Even if it's the internet.
