Are you and your family members feeling stressed out because you're running around all the time? That's when it's time to give yourself some time away from it all. The perfect way to do so is to get yourself out to enjoy nature.
As children get older, it's not easy to plan activities that will appeal to everyone; but when we took a trip to Vermont this summer, it allowed us to connect as a family on so many levels. It was one of the most unforgettable trips we've ever taken.
There are so many ways to enjoy nature, but one of the best ways is to visit a national park. With so many of them, how do you choose which one to visit?
Well, you'll have a perfect opportunity to learn a lot more about them when PBS presents the six-episode series The National Parks: America's Best Idea on Sunday, September 27th. It's a great way to connect nature and history, so be sure to mark your calendar!
There are also many wonderful online resources available for all ages at the U.S. National Park Service web site.
More good news: admission to all of America's National Parks is free on September 26th for National Public Lands Day! It's a great opportunity to volunteer as a family, or simply get out and enjoy one of our many beautiful parks.
There's also a great coin connection you can make, believe it or not! Starting in 2010, The US Mint will be releasing quarters "featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites" through The United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program. So, take a close look at those quarters!
