Are you frustrated with the fact that our children head straight from juvenile books to YA books?
I wish the YA section of the library could be split in two, with books that address serious issues being put into a separate section for high school students. Why can't there be a "safe" section just for children between the ages of 10 and 14? Parents can't always read every book, after all.
What do you think? Put your two cents in by leaving a comment below, or at the must-read blog post You Tell Me: Should Children's Books Be Content-Rated Like Movies and Video Games?
This problem will become even more complex as more tweens and teens start reading digital books on eReaders and such. I found an article about mobile marketing of books to teens on Twitter (thanks to @GuyKawasaki) a while ago. Do you think it's acceptable for publishers to market books directly to our children in this way? It certainly makes you think twice before you give your child access to the internet through a cell phone, doesn't it?
