Are you having trouble motivating your child to read this summer? Well, I decided to add an extra post this week with some favorite picture books which encourage reading and library visits! They're mainly for children between the ages of 4 and 8, give or take a year or two.
Here's the list of great read aloud picture books:
Wild About Books, by Judy Sierra (pictures by Marc Brown) is a really fun rhyming book for children who love animals. It has beautiful, colorful illustrations, and you'll find animals reading books that you are sure to recognize!
Henry & the Buccaneer Bunnies, by Carolyn Crimi (illustrated by John Manders), shows us that sometimes books can be the greatest treasures, even for bunnies who happen to be pirates!
Library Lil, by Suzanne Williams (illustrated by Steven Kellogg) will get your child away from the television and into the library!
Tomas and the Library Lady, by Pat Mora (illustrated by Raul Colon) was inspired by a real life story and shows us how reading can change lives. It just takes one person to make a difference in the life of a child. In this case, there are two: Tomas' grandfather and a librarian.
The Library, by Sarah Stewart (pictures by David Small) is the rhyming story of a girl who surrounds herself with books throughout her life. She eventually has so many that they take over her home. What does she do? I'll let you read the book to find out...
Enjoy reading this week!
